FINAL DETAILS FOR YOUR NEW DACHSHUND PUPPY
We’re thrilled that your new baby will be arriving soon!
Before you welcome your Dachshund puppy home, we’d like to go over a few final details.
Your puppy is now 8 weeks old and is developing a wonderful little personality! At this age, they are playful, energetic, and full of curiosity. We’ve been caring for them since birth, alongside their mother, and now it’s your turn to continue giving them the love and attention they need.
Your puppy has received their first set of vaccinations at 6 weeks and their second at 8 weeks, along with deworming every two weeks since they were 2 weeks old. Their next round of vaccinations and deworming will be due at 10 weeks.
We ask that you take your puppy to a licensed veterinarian within 48 hours of their arrival. While we have provided all the necessary vaccinations and deworming as required by our vet, a vet visit is essential to ensure that everything is working as it should. Our facility undergoes biannual veterinary inspections and annual USDA inspections to ensure the highest standards of care.
Although we can administer vaccines, deworming, and general care under veterinary guidance, only a licensed vet can perform fecal exams and other health screenings. Your vet visit will confirm that your puppy is in good health, and we’d love for you to share a report from your vet after the checkup.

Our Adoption Process
1. VIEW OUR AVAILABLE PUPPIES
Check out our Puppies page to see our available Dachshund puppies! We offer a variety of beautiful colors, including Blue, Isabella, Chocolate, Black and Tan, Red, and Cream, as well as all patterns.
If you don’t see the color or pattern you’re looking for, feel free to reach out we can let you know when our next litters are expected!
2. FILL OUT OUR PUPPY APPLICATION
Fill out our puppy application, we’ll review it and get in touch with you about adding one of our beautiful Miniature Dachshund puppies to your family.
3. TALK WITH ANNETTE & PAY DEPOSIT
Chat with Francisco and get to know your puppy through call or schedule a meet-up. Once you’ve chosen your perfect pup, you can place a deposit of $300 to reserve each puppy, until they’re ready to join your family. From there, we’ll help coordinate the best way to bring your new furry friend home!
4. AT 8 WEEKS, BRING YOUR PUPPY HOME
Once the final adoption fee is received, and the Dachshund puppy is 8 weeks of age, you’ll be able to bring your puppy home. Welcome to our Dachshund family!
5. WITHIN 48 HOURS, VET CHECK
Down Home Dachshunds does require you to schedule a bring your new Dachshund puppy for a vet check within 48 hours of the puppy going home. This is to ensure that all medications are working properly and your puppy is 100% healthy!
